Europe’s truck industry has long been a global leader, with strong market shares across Europe, North America, and Latin America. Yet, as the shift to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) accelerates, manufacturers face mounting regulatory challenges and rising competitive pressure. Under the EU’s CO2 framework, truckmakers must cut fleet emissions by 45% by 2030, 65% by 2035, and 90% by 2040. Despite a growing range of ZEV models – including long-haul trucks with ranges above 500 km – uptake in Europe remains limited and uneven. In the first three quarters of 2025, ZEVs accounted for just 3.8% of new truck registrations, while around 35% will be needed by 2030. This #ACEATruckTalks webinar will explore how Europe can bridge its competitiveness and cost gaps to extend its global leadership to zero-emission road transport. Experts from industry, policy, and finance will discuss how to strengthen enabling conditions, accelerate infrastructure rollout, and ensure long-term industrial resilience.
